Pop Dog are you saying legal gambling is now or will be in the Point?
Certain legislators in Hawaii have attempted to bring 'legalized'
gambling here for as long as I have lived here (1969). It continues to
be shot down in flames every year. It would bring more money to the
state but the damage would be incalculable. The poor would suffer the
most. There is a place for gambling I think, but it should be isolated
outside any community.

The Casino Project has been an on-going deal for quite a while now,....the jist of it is,....that the Casino (now on IleNotreDame) wanted to team up with Cirque de Soleil,...and move the Casino over to the Peel Street Basin,....which actually Borders Point StCharles,.......their Arguement (will create jobs for the Point),.......the Peoples arguement ( Bull$$hit,....it will create problems),..........as it turns out the People of the Point kept fighting this project and as of the other day ,...the project has been 'dropped'.........the People of the Point ,....the Gazette & Local TV CFCF,.....have celebrated the 'Win' .........as of right now ,......There will be No Casino,.... Kudos to all who attended those meetings and stuck to their guns.......... Regardless of which side one takes on the Gambling subject,.......figures show that the Crime Rate rises ,......not to mention the personal loss for famlies with addictions,........There was a lot of coverage within the Guestbook on the point St Charles site ,....(which is available through Our Links section on the left hand side of Our Front page...............check out the site,.....I think alot of our backgrounds are similar and most likely we've all had some roots through GriffinTown,.The Point,...Verdun ,...etc etc .......................the Point Site is a good site with a lot of Photo's & History,.....
