Perry Mason

I just turned on the TV to watch some news, and Perry Mason was on. It has been on the same station every weekday in Portalnad Oregon for about 40 years. I never watch it, but I was curious because Raymond Burr was not the lawyer for the defense. All the cast members were there with the exception of Raymond Burr. The lawyer for the defense was Walter Pigeon. Does anyone remember seeing that episode? That is a good trivia question.Winston Allison

Could it have been maybe the pilot for the series? Alot of times the pilot has different people.

No, I don't think it could have been the pilot because Perry Mason was mentioned several times and Walter pigeon who played the defense lawyer was named someone other than Perry Mason. All the regulars were in there, except for Raymond Burr. Winston Allison

I think I found your answer, looks good:   February 28, 1963 [172] "The Case of the Surplus Suitor" DirectorJesse Hibbs

Paul Drake is hired for the footwork. Interestingly, at one time in the early 1940s Pidgeon was almost hired to be the voice of Perry Mason in the popular radio series. Sherman HatfieldWalter Pidgeon

Walter Pidgeon is the "guest lawyer" for this episode. Webmaster's Note: Perry did appear, briefly, in this episode. The Ona L. Hill biography of Burr states that he had intestinal surgery.

I recieved this from Second Avenue. Which I am pleased to pass along. I don't think any of us knew about this. Winston Allison
