Hi Linda; Welcome to Verdun Connections. You would not know me but perhaps my Sister Dianne Piercey. She is also 57 years young, and went to VHS. She graduated in 1965, and married in 1966, and lives in Ottawa. Are you related to Joe & Gertie Hodgson that lived on Stephens avenue, and had four children Ethel, Samuel, Robert, and Sidney? I am sure you will enjoy this group. I have enjoyed it immensely for a couple of years now. Ralph.

Ya know the name Diane Piercy is so familiar...I am just having trouble placing names and faces. When I was younger we had a Hodgson family living downstairs from us...and I believe these are the ones you are speaking of. I remember the names Samuel and Sidney...wierd. I lived at 702 3rd Ave. on the 3rd floor flat.

Hello There lhi1948,                 Hello there , and welcome to Verdun Connections ! Your cousin's name        rings a bell !!!  I am sure he was in my classroom at Bannantyne        School if I am not mistaken, and did he attend  Verdun High as well ?               If this is the same Ricky Hicks that I know , I would love to know if he        is married still to a Betty Dandridge, and I really would like to know        how they are doing, the last I heard which was very long ago, they moved        to Ontario, and had a child. How are they doing, and are they still wed.        I know Betty's Mom, and Dad, my best Friend Gay Jarvis is her aunt !        I would really like to know if they are well, and if his wife's parents are well,        are they stilll living ?         I know Betty's Mom , Her  Name is Charlotte Jarvis, and Her Dad's Name is        Norman Dandridge, ( the dad use to work for Maislin's )           I would love to know if they are all well ! If you can answer me I would         Appreciate it. This is a Really Great Site !           Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna

What is your name?

Wow, the Jarvis' that you wrote about must be related to Marilyn, Edith and Steven. Can you help me find any of them? I graduated with Edith.

Hi, Everyone!   I was just reading the threads of this topic and noticed Third Avenue.  Does anyone remember a Heather McDowell living on this avenue, probably in the 50s?   Also, I too worked at Maislin's and Norm Dandridge's name is very familiar.   Have a good one, all!

I seem to remember a Gail McDowell.

Hi Bombog 2004,   My wife and I knew Heather McDowell but she lived on Bannantyne between 1st and 2nd Avenue. Very beautiful young lady and we wonder if anyone knows her whereabouts.   Reggie Paine

Hi, lhi1948!   Heather might have had a sister, I'm not sure.  I'll find out and get back to you.    Did Gail have a sister?   Thanks

bombog2004 MSN said...

Hi, RegtheRetiree 1!   Between 1st and 2nd Avenues are close enough.  Heather very well might have lived somewhere around there instead of 3rd Avenue, as I first wrote.   Yes, simply put, Heather was beautiful.   Apparently, she only appears in two VHS yearbooks—'60 (p. 63, V111-D, Second Row, fourth person [from our left] and '61 (p. 56, Grade lX-B, Second Row,  second person [from our left]).  Those are the only two yearbooks I have, but someone else looked in later yearbooks but couldn't find her.   I'll have to call you, sir, Reg, because you're one year older than I am—and am so jealous that you're retired before I am!  Only kidding.   Take care, and have a good night!   Jack

Hi, bubbacut!   I might know Fred Martin if I saw him, but I don't recall his name.    After too many years in customs (customs brokers and private industry), I joined Maislin's in the autumn that the Parti Quebecois came into power.   I worked in the Rate Department, on the night shift, and was in the second wave of layoffs before the company went belly up.    I'm still in transport.   Thanks for your interest.   Jack

Hi Bob,   Is this the same Ricy Martin that played hockey at the first avenue rink in the  50's ? If it is, my brother Wayne Carlin also played hocket at the same time for a league called the Bantams (I think) usually against Ricky Martins team...Rickys Mom was always at the games, as my Mom and I were..freezing at the side-boards! cookie

was Ricks' Mum, always yelling at the players not to touch

I Believe Don Marshall and Bucky Hollingsworth also played
at Willibroad/First Ave. Rink.

I use to watch them play

Hi, RegtheRetiree1!   Regarding Heather McDowell . . .   thus the mystery deepens.  I don't remember her having any sisters or brothers, either, but my friend does.   The only thing I've found on Heather is in the site below for the Centre du hospitalier du Verdun, where, if it's the same Heather, she's listed on page 18 of "Liste Donnateurs Individuels (+ 100$)":   http://www.chverdun.qc.ca/rapport%20annuel%20-%20fondation.pdf   Beneath her name is a Norma McDowell.  Related or not? I haven't the foggiest.   Season's Greetings, sir!

Hi Cookie 3773,   This was not the Ricky Martin that played for the Buffalo Sabres. But he was the Ricky Martin that had a real hockey mom. Always flowing from the mouth.   Reggie Paine

Hi lhi1948 !      Hope you are well, I am sorry if I have delayed the reply , have been quite busy   I am sure if you mention Anna Tahatakis, Betty will remember me, I was her   Aunt Duchess's Friend , as for Ricky, he may remember me I was in a few of   his classes in Elementary School ( Bannantyne )   Would appreciate to know if her mom, and dad are well, and how are their children ?    Thanks !  Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna
