Opinions re: Verdun Connections

I have a hard time understranding  why some people need to ask Les or management to delete certain subjects. The job done by management of this site is an example to other groups  , to think that one must request to have something that bothers them deleted , boggles my mind. I mean , no one HAS to read anything that does not interest them, I do not believe in a lot of things that others do, therefore is someone suggesting I dont post because it might offend , unless its religion or hard core porn, I think we should post whatever we think others MIGHT be interested in, if the subject does not agree with your thinking DONT READ IT , I am that selective about watching T V  :I only watch what I want to , same here , lets grow up and keep this a fun place , next thing you know management will have enough of this nonsense and leave, thats my opinion .  JImmy

To whoever,  I cannot believe the stone throwing on this site lately. Some people must have drove their parents crazy with the whining. To think that this site is all adults and some people just can't leave things alone. I want this,I want that, don't do this don't do that. Its like a song ( My opinion's better than your opinion-my opinion's better than yours-my opinion's better- because my opinion just better than yours) Do you whiners read your own posts or do you need to get Les to do it for you. I hope your all having fun because I get a big kick out of the whining as long as I can turn it off when the stones come my way.   Ya all have fun now ya hear.  Danny

What ..... you didn't walk barefoot to school. I did....well up to January, then I wimped out.

some years ago we were visiting Montreal (I'm now in Toronto....you know toronto....center of the universe) and I decided to take my son around and show him some of my "shrines". We drove by St. Thomas More Church, St. Thomas More elementary, VCH, Rolland Ave where I lived, 6th avenue where my grandmother lived. He was so UNIMPRESSED by it all. I realized these were my shrines, not his .... and rightly so.

So, I enjoy VC and when someone mentions Rolland Ave or Valliquette or whatever it's a bit of a charge. I guess that's the secret...we all have so many "shrines" in common. Whoda thunk it eh?

Too bad about the Macy's parade. I always think of Miracle on 34th Street when I hear of Macy's. Visited NYC in 2000 for a week. a wonderful week of walkiing around Manhattan. I made the pigrimage to Macy's. Had to.....they had old wooden escalators....but suddenly I was back in "Miracle on 34th Street"....and then there's Herald Square just across the road....oh well....not Verdun, but another of my favourite cities.

Cheers.

Hi Kungfu,   I agree 100 % with your statement. By reading the discussions today it is indeed very sad that Mr. Brown decided to leave the Verdun Connections. I also answered his discussion on the subject about Paul Martin and thought something was wrong with MSN again because it disappeared. Maybe I should be upset my response was deleted I assume.   I really enjoy your discussions about your walks around Verdun. They bring back a lot of memories I also enjoyed Ed's discussions and the great work Guy does for VC and Jean Marie's contributions and Winston Allison's (he has got to be the funniest) and many many other individuals.   I firmly beieve someone should get Ed back. This is to stressful for Ed at his age.   Reggie Paine

i'm just wondering what this is all about...i do know that to control the direction of a topic by deleting it seems rather contolling. maybe even abuse of power. personally i enjoy any topic. and for anyone to not care if someone leaves the group is a little insensitive. one thing i remember about growing up in verdun. we often disagreed but seldom held a grudge and always stayed friends.

by the way.....you can delete my last post...and i wont get mad or leave.

The "management" would rather not be deleting anyone's messages. The topics themselves were never an issue, it was the personal attack ambiance that was a problem. (Unfortunatley some innocent messages were deleted with the offending ones) We would much rather let the members keep the peace. Healthy debates do not include personal attacks. We are all entitled to our own opinions but we need to accept that others are as well! Personally, I keep those that I feel most strongly about, to myself so as not to offend others. Can we please let Verdun Connections get back to being a great place to connect and glorify the good old days?

clenken. We have people in Australia also. That is more than 8000 miles. Isn't that something. Who would have thought that when this thing started out, that we would be in contact with people all over the globe. Good job guys. AND thanks. Winston Allison
