Woodland School 1959 to 1965

Looking for old classmates, early years. Kindergarten through grade 5 (Mrs Baldwin). Some names I remember - Susan & Judy Blagrave (twins), Judy Henwick, Clive Moody, Karen Bowker, Cynthia Poitras.

Lived on Osborne Avenue between Verdun Ave and Banantyne. Moved to Lasalle in 1965. Would be good to catch up.

I saw the name Allen Johnson in one of the messages. I wonder if Allen would be one of five boys of Alec Johnson and Daisy . They would be in their late 60's or early 70's. Not sure but thought they lived on Fifth Ave. I remember Alec & Ronnie

Hi David;       I went to Woodland school from 1962/63  till 1968. I remember fondly many teachers with the exception of the gym teacher Mr.Boingke (sp). He was not very nice to me, probably because I was not very good at all in gym. He died in a scuba diving accident in Mexico in 1966 or 1967. I lived at 686 6th ave., and then 418 Woodland ave. during this time. I also did my grade 8 in the "annex". Ralph.

Hi,

I just had to join after seeing Mr. Boinke's name. I've thought about him over the years and relive the shock and sadness I felt when I heard he had died. I wasn't very good at 'gym class' either, but I just adored him.

By the way, I remember you Dina. I don't know if you'd remember me, but this is Arlene Peters.

It sure is strange seeing all of these names that i recognize from so long ago.

I don't even know how I ended up here this evening.

Anyhow, I must have been in Woodland School between the years of 1960-1968. I went to Verdun High Annex for my 8th year.

Wow.

Hi Kathy,

My brother Gary (Garfield) and I lived at the corner of Egan and Bannantyne above some sort of small grocer's. Savards was on the next corner (how I remember the bags of penny candy).

We sure did play at Woodland Park. Hooooly, how long ago was that?

I wish I could remember you. Maybe a bit more information to jog my memory?

Hi All,

I went to Woodland School from 62 to 69 and my family lived at 1046 Melrose between Bannantyne and Champlain. I too remember Mr. Boinke not too fondly. I had Mrs. Baldwin in grade 5 and I can still remember her putting signs on the front of your desk giving you a title as too her impression of you, I had "Stupid Stinker" on mine. I remember Ms. Grant I had a huge crush on her. I remember Miss Foot for music and Mr. Brooks as my last teacher in grade 7. My family moved to Ontario in the Summer of 69 when I was 13. I was also a member of the Woodland troop of boy scouts at the school and played my hockey with the Norman Dawe league.

I went to woodland 59 to 65. I remember the yearly confusion of five names. David mooney David price Douglas woods Douglas Mckenzie David woods. Also the Babs boys. One swore it was Bab the other said Babs. I had miss Stevenson in grade 4 and miss McKewon grade 6. Loved mr Boinke. And Miss foot. Also miss Richards who directed the plays. Just found out that Judy Henwick passed in 09. We lived on the same street. It brought a tear to my eyes.
