I knew Pete well, may he rest in peace. He and my ex-husband Mike Stuart and Mike's brother Kenny were close friends for years. Kenny actually did Pete's eulogy at the funeral. Pete's humor and excellent carpentry work will always be his legacy...as will his friendly nature. It's always sad when someone is taken way before their time....

Tina, as you know, Ron Bennett was my uncle - my Mom's younger brother. I used to spend a LOT of time at their apartment on the third floor on that corner, I babysat my Uncle Ronnie and Aunti Sherry's 3 kids, Jimmy, Tracey and Sheila...I think you and Maggie babysat for them too, didn't you? My Aunt Elaine and Uncle Barry also lived in the apartment in the same building right across the hall from my aunt and uncle. Nora lived on the second floor... The Collins' used to live on the bottom flat of those apartments too, remember? Here's a pic I took of the small side balcony of what used to be the Collins' flat. Those apartments aren't at all how I remember them from when I was younger...I remember all the balconies being of wood and painted grey (railings were even wood too). Those apartments were not your traditional apartments either...they were really BIG inside and each upper flat had THREE balconies, remember that? One in the front of the house (off a front bedroom), one on the side of the house (off the kitchen) and another one at the back that had the stairway that went out to the street, onto Willibrord from the flats right at the corner and the back of the apartments in the center of the block on Lasalle Blvd. exited into that BIG communal backyard/parking lot. Each of the 2 apartment buildings only had 6 apartments too, 2 on each of the 3 floors. Oh man the memories are all still there, they just needed some stirring! Don't ask me what I ate for breakfast yesterday tho haha. Anyway here's the pic...There's even a sign telling you what house it is: 4513 (Lasalle Blvd.) #1.
