Tony, Do you remember the Leblanc's who rented boats at the foot of 1st ave. Nobody I spoke to remembers them but you where very close. You may even have photos that you would like to share. I would like to share an incident that hapened to me while walking on the boardwalk, I must have been around 10 in the early 40's and a protruding splinter entered my foot since as you no doubt know it was made of wood at that time and a passer by took me to the fire station you mention in your message. Only a small incident but they sure stay in your mind. Guy

Yes, I remember Leblanc's very well as I & my buddy Don Snow used to rent
there & row over to Nun's Island he with his B.B. Gun, & shoot at cows etc.,
until the caretaker would get too close & we would row back as fast as we
could. Once ended up close to Victoria Bridge(Scary). Another Verdun
Connections member from our era is Vic Coveduck now living in Florida who I
am sure would like to hear from someone from our era.

Regards,

Tony.

I also went to Willibrord 1941 to 53 then to CHS & Loyola, and reconize all those name, except Gaults unless you mean Joey Gauld, who I have just met with this year after 35-40 we are not sure.    Any ways I have lived & worked in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Calgary & have been in TO for the last 25 still working in Infdustrial sales.   Gordo

Yes I did mean Joey Gauld. It sure is a small world. Joe's sister was/is
married to Johnny Austin from 3rd Ave. My older brother John & Johnny Austin
were buddies. Don't know if you remember me or not but I remember you from
school, etc. I too went on to Loyola to graduate High School ( nites &
summer )

Worked in LaSalle for Seagram's for 17 yrs., then Schenley's in Valleyfield
then onto Mcguinness Distillers in Toronto & later to International Potter
Dist/Beaupre Wines in Vancouver (bought out Calona Wines) & I finished up
with Dumont Wine & Spirits where I supervised the construction & managed
their new facility in Moncton, N.B., as G.M. for Atlantic Canada. They sold
to C'Guay Wines & the facility closed down whereupon I returned to Vcvr.,
for a couple of years & ended up with a mgmt consulting firm in Edmonton to
this day.

Say hello to Joey Gauld or any other ex Verdunites I may know, whom you may
meet in the centre of the universe (TO)

All the best
Martin Sullivan (Tony)

Martin , I don't know if you got my first reply something went wonky here.   I will say hi to Joey, went to his Garden party last summer, great time even though we knew no one there except him, He told me then that his sister who you mentioned  had died, also that Leonard Austin had recently died also, he was our age, went to Willibrord with us.   Take her cool and if you ever make to the Center of the Universe, give me a call maybe we could have a beer.   Gordo.

Hi Harleygirl,    Peter Lazure has/had a shop across Mercier Bridge back in 1992 and Michael I heard passed away around that time, very sad. I lived on 3rd from from birth to 1954..Peter & Michael lived next door to my gramma, I always like Peter& Michaels parents...their Dad was the Coalman on 3rd,and boy when we played near that truck,we were black...many memories.   cookie

Hi Guy, you lived on Galt&Bannantyne...did you know a kid they called T-Boy,cannot recall his real name, he is deceased now. We all played softball at first avenue park back in early 50's..good times. Isn't it strange how you can recall memories from way back, but ask me what today is ,not sure!!?? (smile)   cookie
