St.Willibrord High School

Our class of 52 has a reunion every 2 or 3 years at a different girl's house.  They have come from as far as Austria and California and Florida.  We were due to have one this year but I have been sick this year and couldn't get around to organize it.  Hopefully we will have one next year in Montreal.  We have been very fortunite that we are only missing 1 out of 21 girls in the class.  She passed away about 5 years ago.  We have a lot of fun and usually stay at different girl's homes and make it an overnighter.  Try it you'll love it.

are you from the class of 52 at VHS? You are very close to my mom's age, maybe you knew her in school (Reita Lummis).

I went to St. Willibrord - I started there around 1945 - to around 54.  Are related to Halpin Funeral Home.  I remember Miss McEvoy and Miss McElroy -  My Name i Alice Conant - if you are related to them - My dad was buried from there - He has a whole Airforce Funeral.   I was only abt 11 years old then. I remember Mother St. John in Grade 7 - she was an great teacher.  Maybe you remember Mary Groom, Betty Swatton, Phyllis Ottewill, Irene Beaudoin.  If you do  would you know where they are now.  I have not been back to Verdun since 1986, but when I get back to Montreal again I guess I will take a ride down there.  Oh yes what about the dance on Friday night at the Y on Gordon ave. I could go on and on but It was good times then.

I went to St. Anthony's school - the nuns were from the Congregation of Notre Dame.  I had a grade 9 teacher named Mother St. John of the Blessed Sacrement.  She was a tall woman who had very dark eyes and dark eye brows and dark hair.  If this is the same teacher she had a cousin Mother St Francis who taught grade 8 at St. Anthony's.  Mother St John became Principal in 1962 and last year there was an article about her in the Montreal Gazette she is known as Sr. Mary Alice Danaher and is in B C working with natives at Canam Lake.  Her cousin is now known as Sr. Anne Marie Mulcair and she lives and helps out at the Villa Marguerite in Point Claire.  Could this be the same Mother St John??

Are you Lorna Halpin?  I was married to Eddy Gibbons. son of Rose Halpin and Cecil Gibbons.   Funny if I should find you here, my rand-daughter is trying to do a family tree and I have little info on the Halpin Family.  If so please contact me at the above address.   Thank you, Barbara Ottewill Gibbons
